Wow, just wow! This was an amazing tour that taught me so much about the culture but also about how sometimes we forget how to just live. I dont even know where to begin. Mir was our amazing guide and the family we stayed with were so welcoming even during a special holiday for them.

We did the 3 day experience where you basically immerse yourself into the nomadic culture and world. It is interesting to see how there are people that still live off the land like this and pass the lifestyle on to generation after generation. Only thing I would say is ask questions about your tour. If you are doing this one, know you will be completely off the grid with no phones etc. Be prepared to function as if you are primitively camping.

This was easily one of the best and most unique travel experiences I've ever had. The cold may be extreme, but this was the best time to go. Our guide, Mir, was very knowledgeable and engaging with excellent English skills. These are important qualities because your guide will be with you all the time, even sharing sleeping quarters e.g. the yurt, and none of the host families speak English. She was also versed in Western culture which was important to help us understand the local customs. When we first arrived, she called our hotel to greet us and set up our pick up the following day. It was great that she called us early because our luggage didn't make our flight and she helped us with getting supplies we might need. We also let her know about any dietary restrictions we had. Otherwise, while in the countryside, you'll be limited to yak meat, noodles, dumplings, fried bread, Mongolian vodka, and yak's milk tea.

Celebrating the Lunar New Year in Mongolia was magnificent. It meant an entire day dedicated to meeting family and friends in nearby yurts some requiring a ride on horseback and giving the traditional greeting. Giving and receiving small gifts was completely optional. The host families were so very nice and it felt like they adopted us as one of their own. So saying goodbye was difficult and not without tears. This trip will forever be in my heart!

My partner and I had a wonderful winter tour of central Mongolia. The staff (at the office and the on-site guides and driver) were all so wonderful and friendly, as were all the locals we met. This is definitely an experience I will never forget! :)

During the Lunar New Year in 2018, we visited Mongolia for 8 days. We are lucky to have Enkh Bold be our tour guide as he was considerate, patient, professional, and helpful to us during the whole trip. Despite his young age and cute face, we saw his impressive talents with horse riding, camel riding, and dog sledding; Enkh Bold was a trustworthy guide who made us feel safe. With his knowledgeable explanations about the history of Mongolia, we easily learned the local culture and adapted ourselves to the nomadic lifestyle. Moreover, under my partner’s request, Enkh Bold risked his life by offering my partner a chance to drive dog sledding, and my partner made him fall and be dragged by Huskies 7 times. That is a brave and admirable behavior as a tour guide.

Our driver Migaa’s steady, careful, skillful driving ability made us feel safe and comfortable, and the driving was so smooth even on rough roads that our photos from inside the car were not shaky at all. It was our honor to celebrate Migaa’s birthday during our trip, and it was touching when Migaa and Enkh Bold surprised us with a giant bottle of Mongolian beer in the dinner the next day. Because of this, they leave us a priceless memory, and we enjoyed the trip until the last moment. The landscapes and snow view in Mongolia are beautiful, so are Mongolians’ heart.

Discover Mongolia helped us maximize the time we spent in Mongolia with an itinerary that let us experience everything we wished to see. Very professional organization with great communication leading up to our trip. Our guide Ebo was fantastic and had plenty of insight to share. We always felt safe with our driver Damba, and he and Ebo made a great team!

We have been on a 6-day tour of the Gobi desert and Ulanbaatar with Discover Mongolia. Everything has been perfect from the choice of the attractions to visit, the choice of the hotel and restaurants, to the great guide (Hishi) and our very and friendly experienced driver.
