Excellent cultural show and great experience with nomad families
Great tour! 5 Nights Central Mongolia Highlight Tour Three of us did this tour in early May 2018, our guide was Jack and driver Dambaa, both were great guys. It was a good time of year to travel, as it wasn't hot, and not a lot of other tourists about either. It was a packed tour with a lot of driving, but we had a lot of flexibility and were able to have rest breaks once we arrived at each Ger camp, and make small changes if we wanted to. The Ger camps were very well setup, and the three course included meals were all excellent. Who said the food in Mongolia wasn't good..... We also got to visit a couple of nomad families which was a great experience. They also dropped us off at the train station a couple of days after the tour, which is a free service most tour operators seem to do. The cultural show we saw after the tour at the Tumen-Ekh Folk Song and Dance Ensemble, was excellent too.
Great day tour of Ulan Bator
Reviewed May 30, 2018 via mobile Great day tour of Ulan Bator Five of us had a great day tour of Ulan Bator by minibus, with lunch included. We visited a temple, history museum, monument overlooking the city, had a great folklore show and included lunch. The only shopping time included was at our request. Great overview tour.
You'll never want to leave! Discover Mongolia Travel put together a sweeping excursion
You'll never want to leave! My visit to Mongolia far exceeded all expectations. Discover Mongolia Travel put together a sweeping excursion for me as a single traveler that encompassed amazing star spangled nights in comfortable ger (yurts) in a series of locations, wildlife spotting, visiting a nomad family, visiting archaeologically sites, watching the wild Przewalski horses, the possibility of camel riding, climbing the astonishing Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue, also time in the city that included excellent shopping and relaxation in a lovely hotel. As the driver, Mr Bayarbat Davaadorj was very courteous, humorous and helpful as well as careful. His motto is "Safety first!" Ms. Oyungerel Tumurbatuide as a guide/interpreter was such a joy. She has excellent skills in speaking English, a wonderful friendly manner, and a wide range of knowledge to share about all aspects of Mongolia and Mongolian culture. This trip was so delightful, that it was truly difficult to depart.
An open country with happy people
An open country with happy people The nearly 15 day tour of Mongolia I took with Discover Mongolia has one of the trips of my life -- and I have been traveling extensively for last 25-30 years. The iternerary - from Gobi in the south to Lake Khuvsgul in the north -- was well planned and each day was different as was each place.
What made the trip so much better and enjoyable was that we had a fabulous guide in Mayagmar Uugantsetseg (Oka for us) and The United Kingdom (UK) suu who was the man behind the wheel. These two became our window to Mongolia. They looked after us with extreme love and care and not for a moment we got the feeling that we are in a foreign country.
The two are lifelong friends for me now. They were the best ambassadors of Mongolia, a country which is extremely beautiful blessed with natural diversity and happy and friendly people.
The trip was a journey of a lifetime
We Discovered Mongolia - fantastic 14 day trip!! Four of us (all female) experienced the Discover Mongolia 14 day tour with 'Discover Mongolia'. We arrived home last week exhilarated, exhausted and smiling from ear to ear!
The trip was a journey of a lifetime and our fantastic guide, Oyuna and driver, Nandia, made sure it exceeded all expectations. We spent a day in Ulaanbaatar with Hishi, who made sense of the complicated history of Mongolia and its independence for us as well as taking us to a super restaurant before our trip. We flew south, near the border with China, to the Gobi desert where we met our guide and driver and then drove, mostly off road, through the desert and then north through the beautiful steppes and mountains and on to Lake Huvsgul in the north near the Russian border.
It was a huge journey, worth every second Wow - what a way to discover the landscapes, people, religion, culture and even learn some of the language (very slowly, day by day from our patient driver!). We explored Bhuddist monasteries, rode camels and horses, trekked through Eagle Valley, soaked in hot springs, climbed to the edge of a volcano, climbed the highest sand dune (tough but worth every moment sitting on the edge at the top), and the highlight was meeting several nomadic families in their own gers. We felt truly priviledged to meet Nandia's Uncle and be treated as guests, to understand their way of life through the seasons and share in a truly delicious Mongolian BBQ.
