Ulaanbaatar - the capital city of modern nomads
Visiting Ulaanbaatar is to see an ancient city that is undergoing an industrial revolution while remaining one of the most hospitable cities in the world. One of the highlights is the Gandan Monastery, home to around 5000 monks while the Choijin Lama Monastery is a unique showcase of the art and history of Buddhism in the country. The Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Status stands 40 metres high showing the famous leader on horseback overlooking the Tuul River, at the spot where he was said to have found a golden whip and stands on the visitor centre dedicated to the famous Mongolian.
