National Parks
There are a number of national parks and protected areas spread across Mongolia each offering something different to visitors. One example is Lake Khovsgol, one of only seventeen ancient lakes in the world that is more than two million years old and is home to wildlife such as elk, wolf and brown bear. Gobi Gurvansaikhan is the largest national park in the country, at the north edge of the Gobi Desert and famous for its Singing Sands and Yolyn Am, a near-permanent ice field. It is a haven for snow leopards as well as Siberian ibex and the lammergeyer or bearded vulture
